Welcome to our Juneteenth 2022 event page. Below you will find a link to our event flyer, a link to our Juneteenth history page, and a lineup of guests. There will be music, storytelling, dancing, vendors, and art all celebrating our rich cultural roots and community.

Our theme is Sankofa-- an African word from the Akan people in Ghana.  The bird pictured here is a symbol for Sankofa. The literal translation is, “it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.”  They believe the past serves as a guide for planning the future. To the Akan, it is this wisdom in learning from the past which ensures a strong future. Thus, we will celebrate Juneteenth by exhibiting African roots and making the connections via music, art, food, storytelling, etc., exhibiting Africa as World History for all to learn about and we will share available resources with the community to assist in moving forward.
